A client recently described my approach to wedding photography as “storytelling”. I’ve labeled my work as the popular “documentary” or “photojournalistic” photography because I don’t stage my shots but I think “storytelling” is much more appropriate. This is, after all, a very important chapter in the story of your lives. I bring with me a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago which has given me strong compositional skills, a sensitivity to the quality of light and an eye for detail.

I like to start about an hour before the wedding ceremony, during that “getting ready” time-there’s a lot of great energy and anticipation with your closest friends and family being present. I continue shooting photographs throughout the day, making sure to photograph all the important events and those moments you don’t get to see; your friends laughing at each other’s jokes, the way your parents look at each other while they are dancing, the flower girls discussing their very important job. Wedding party and family groups are still an important part of the day but they don’t have to take up a lot of time. I’m sure you would rather enjoy most of your cocktail hour!

I don’t provide wedding photography "packages", all of my services are customized and “a la carte”; you choose exactly what you want or don’t want. I also ask for your full input when it comes to creating a customized wedding album should you request it. I can also provide you with blank photography albums so that you can “do-it-yourself”.
